Corrinne May — Singer and Songwriter

May 10th, 2009 by Reb

Corrinne May, born January 19, 1973. She is s a Singaporean singer-songwriter based in Los Angeles.

Corrinne May majored in mass communications and English literature at the National University of Singapore. Later, she left Singapore to further her music education at the Berklee College of Music, where she majored in songwriting and film scoring. In order to pursue her dreams in music, she moved to Los Angeles in 1999. Here is a example of someone who has followed her dream in becoming a successful songwriter and music producer.

Some of you who watches Taiwanese drama might know her by her song “Journey”  in Love at the Dolphin Bay a few years back. In September 2004, Corrinne May became the first (and only) artist singing exclusively in English, to be signed by the record label Forward Music in Taiwan, which distributes her music to Taiwan, Japan, Hong Kong and China.

Corrinne has been playing the piano since the age of 5, and is also proficient with the guitar. On 11 February 2005, The Straits Times interviewed May, who related that being a devout Catholic, “much of her music has been inspired by her relationship with God”. I think that might be what struck me while listening to her music — the similarity of voice that came from above.

This was the only song on my iPod that is sung by Corrinne, but it is more than enough to hear the talent and passion she has towards music.

Fly Away

The Latest news is, Corrinne and her husband Kavin were expecting their first baby in late April 2009. So she has taken a break from touring for the time being.

Congratz!!

Follow your dream. You will never know where it might lead you to.

Hope this will help in guiding you guys’ piano practices this week.

Happy playing =) You guys rock!

Olivia:
Watch out for the dotted notes, they can be real tricky. But don’t think about it for too much, or else it’ll run away from you!

Sharon
Remember right hand should be strong, clear and bright. Follow the pedal markings carefully!

And the 2nd one.
Don’t miss out the little staccatos!

So far I’ve liking the iProRecorder on my iTouch very much =)

If any of you run into troubles please leave a comment.

Feedback are very much encouraged!
